Why Was CADNA Founded?

CADNA was founded in 2007 by several leading brands and FairWinds Managing Partners Josh Bourne and Phil Lodico.

CADNA was formed specifically in response to the growing international problem of cybersquatting, which is the bad-faith registration of a domain name that includes or is confusingly similar to an existing trademark. Collectively, this infringement costs organizations billions of dollars in lost or misdirected revenue, in addition to mounting legal costs in defense of their own domains. This infringement also puts Internet users at risk – instead of finding content that has been authorized by the brands that they trust, Internet users are often instead exposed to malware, inappropriate content or scams that look to take their personal or financial information.

The objective of CADNA is to decrease occurrences of cybersquatting by pushing for anti-cybersquatting legislation updates and The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) policy reforms.
