World-famous brands are not the only ones exploited by domain name abusers. Legitimate Web sites for political candidates, public office holders, government agencies and even memorials to victims of tragedies are being exploited as well.
Internet users who make errors when directly navigating to these sites are often unwittingly sent to cybersquatted sites. The domain registrants and technical services providers of these bad-faith sites profit while the legitimately trademarked sites lose needed funds and public goodwill.
