CADNA Calls for Full-Scale Audit of ICANN

WASHINGTON, September 22, 2009—With just over a week left before the expiration of the Joint Project Agreement (JPA) between the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) and the Department of Commerce, the Coalition Against Domain Name Abuse (CADNA) urges the US government to closely re-examine ICANN's structure, governance, and oversight mechanisms before committing to any further long-term cooperation. Significant adjustments must be made to the JPA in order to remedy the egregious problems CADNA has found with ICANN.

CADNA Agrees on the Need to Reconsider ICANN’s Role

WASHINGTON, May 11, 2009--The Coalition Against Domain Name Abuse (CADNA) welcomes European Union Commissioner for Information Society and Media Vivian Reding’s comments on Internet governance and the need to consider alternatives from the current set up with ICANN.

Reding called for greater accountability of ICANN policies after ICANN is released from its contract with the United States government during a hearing before the Commission on Wednesday.

ICANN's Poor Governance Disappoints CADNA

WASHINGTON, May 5, 2009 -- The Coalition Against Domain Name Abuse (CADNA) regards tomorrow's deadline for public comments to the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers’ (ICANN) Implementation Recommendation Team's (IRT) interim report as one more example of poor governance by ICANN. The IRT, which was established by ICANN to propose remedies to potential intellectual property violations caused by ICANN's pending decision to issue new gTLDs, presented its report on April 24. ICANN only allowed the IRT to provide 12 days for public comment.

CADNA's Policy Forum Discusses the $1.5 Billion Business “Tax” Brands Are Not Expecting

WASHINGTON, February 4, 2009- The Coalition Against Domain Name Abuse (CADNA) held a policy forum for government experts and brand owners yesterday, February 3, in Washington, D.C. The purpose of the forum was to explore the state of the Internet and discuss the shortcomings of existing Internet governance and policy development. Attendees shared their ideas about what actions brand owners and the US government can take to change the current course of the domain name space and prevent the Internet from becoming increasingly dangerous and unruly.
